Committing to a vision means behaving as though the future you've pictured is the one you're building—before anyone else can see it, before evidence supports it, and before you can be certain it will work.

Run this diagnostic on your vision:

Protected Vision Test:

• Is it general enough that no one (including you) can hold you to it?

• Does it preserve all alternatives?

• Can you shift direction without admitting you changed course?

Committed Vision Test:

• Have you closed an alternative in service of this vision?

• Have you placed resources at risk before having proof?

• Have you acted in a way that only makes sense if the vision is real?

If your vision passes the first test but not the second, it's protected—not committed.

Have you committed to your vision—or just protected it?
